It is located in western Mexico, the center of Jalisco, in the geographical area known as Valle de Atemajac. It is the third most populous country with 1,495,182 inhabitants and is part of the so-called Guadalajara metropolitan area, along with 7 other municipalities city, considered the second largest urban area in Mexico and the tenth in Latin America with 4,625,000 inhabitants .

Guadalajara is considered one of the largest cities of the country in area, 814 km², along with Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla and Tijuana, the third economic center of the country with a gross domestic product (GDP) of 77,400 million in 2012 and eleventh in America Latina.Es classified as gamma city in 2010 and is one of the 120 most competitive cities in the world with a score of 39’0.
The city‘s economy is based on industry, especially information technology with a large number of international companies with manufacturing facilities in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. It also features local products such as shoes, textiles and food processing industries. Guadalajara is an important cultural center of Mexico, considered by most to be the home of mariachi and hosts several major cultural events such as the International Film Festival of Guadalajara and the Guadalajara International Book Fair and world-renowned events that attract international crowds. It is also the home of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, one of the most popular soccer teams in Mexico. Guadalajara was named the American Capital of Culture in 2005. Guadalajara was also hosting the 2011 Pan American Games.
La Villa de Guadalajara was founded on January 5, 1532 by Cristóbal de Oñate and 42 neighbors.
